Some of it is absolutely true and some of it is not. Aging does not necessarily mean that you will have so many diseases, be sick at all times and have a poor quality of life. If there are some negative changes in terms of your appearance, there are some positive changes too because you have all the time of the world to yourself. Enjoying life and making the most of it is the key to living healthily and gracefully. There had been a study conducted by researchers over the link between a positive outlook and physical well-being in older people. The study revealed acts that those aged individuals who were happy were the fittest and robust, whereas the unhappy ones were more likely to develop physical and mental health issues.

You know what, exercise is something that you must start young to reap its best benefits in the later years. But if you haven’t been able to due to lack of circumstances, better late than never! Start right away. Give it a couple of months’ time; you will definitely notice a difference in your health and attitude.

It will not only lift your spirits and make you energetic but physical activity can also reverse many health issues like obesity, diabetes or hypertension and improve your immune system.

Don’t force yourself into exercising; choose what you enjoy the most. It could be yoga, walking or swimming.


Keep a check on your diet

This too like exercise must start at a very young age. It is a scientifically proven fact that the digestive system starts getting slack as we age. It is a biological process and we cannot do anything about it. But we can most certainly modify and control our diet to maintain good health. Instead of gorging on fried and packaged food like the younger years, choose fresh fruits and veggies rich in antioxidants and fiber, have fish and lean meat and you must add probiotics to your diet for good gut health. Limit alcohol consumption and give up smoking completely.

Also, consult your doctor and take dietary supplements like calcium and multivitamins.


Go for preventive health checkups

Sometimes a health condition comes unannounced and it is better that you schedule an annual health checkup with your doctor. Besides getting blood tests done, also get your eyes and dental health checked to avoid any complications.


Sleep adequately

You often had to compromise your sleep hours in your younger age. So make the most of your free time. Retire to bed early and wake up early after completely an 8-hour sleep routine. You deserve it! Also, it will improve your health.


Have a social life

Be socially active with your friends, relatives and within your community. Involvement in more social activities will keep your mind stress-free while releasing happy hormones.
