A day back I was surfing through some news channels over the internet and came across a story that immediately caught my attention. It was about a young 11-year old boy from Telangana, Hyderabad who teaches designing and drafting to civil, mechanical and electrical engineers. The boy here is a wonder child. He uses his special designing skill to explain the technicality of engineering to B.Tech and M.Tech students. His much older students have certified him as a proficient teacher.
Such stories of young kids accomplished in the advanced academy are real inspirational stories. And we wish we could get at least a percentage of their wondrous brain. Well, they are specially gifted children and we might never be able to reach anywhere near them but we can definitely try to improve our mental stamina and power of our brain.
So here are 5 simple tips that will help you improve your mental strength and stamina. You need to practice them every day with full commitment to get the desired results.
Eat your food right -
If you want to improve your mental strength and stamina, you should eat a highly nutritious food. Your brain will need enough nutrients to function well. Protein and iron is an integral part of a “healthy brain diet”. Foods like blueberries, almonds, and walnuts must be included in your diet for a healthy brain and improved mental strength. These foods are rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids that improve your cognitive ability, concentration, and memory, all the characteristics necessary for improved productivity.
Try to cut back on processed sugar from your diet.
Use your mental energy wisely –
It is human nature to think about certain things that we cannot solve or we have no control over. It will gradually take its course. But still we waste time and drain our mental energy thinking about it. Thinking about negative problems drains out energy to an extent that we have no good energy left whatsoever to carry on with our productivity or use our brain for something fruitful.
So make it a habit from now onwards to spend your mental energy wisely and focus more on concentration and cognitive power.
Sleep well -
For optimum physical and mental health, it is important that you get enough sleep and rejuvenate your brain for a day’s productive activity. A tired brain is not good enough for utilization at the optimum level. While you sleep, the brain does some mental cleaning and rebuilds it networks and remembers skills learned.
If you haven’t yet started including exercise in your daily routine, it’s high time. If you think that exercise is beneficial only for physical stamina, here’s some food for thought. Experts tell us to exercise 30 minutes daily to improve brain muscles and keep it work it its productive best.
Don’t stress –
Stress is an integral part of our life but too much of it debilitates our mind and body. We usually take stress for many unknown reasons that we know cannot be solved. Whenever you feel you are stressing out, close your eyes and meditate for a couple of minutes to relax and boost your brain.
While these are some of the tips you can use to improve your mental stamina, also use your leisure time wisely. Instead of watching television or expending your brain on negative thoughts, play a game of chess, scrabbles or Chinese checkers. You can also try your hand at a Brain Training Game online.
Your brain is your strength. Use it wisely!
