2. Warm honey tea
In case of cold or painful tonsils, warm tea has proved to give relief. Any warm beverage has been relied on for years to provide relief against tonsillitis. However raw honey added to warm tea has anti-bacterial properties that treat infections. Avoid having hot tea, instead, have it warm. Ginger tea or fennel tea with honey will reduce inflammation and soothe the tonsils.
3. Tulsi tea
The medicinal benefits of tulsi tea help treat tonsillitis, especially for its anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties. Tulsi tea is also very soothing that will reduce the swelling as well as pain. Preparing this medicinal concoction is very easy. Boil 10-12 tulsi leaves in water. Strain the liquid and mix some honey or black pepper to it. Drink it thrice a day over the course of two days or until the swelling disappears.
Ayurveda approved, turmeric has strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that are especially beneficial to treat the infection and irritation symptoms of tonsillitis. You can mix half a tsp of turmeric and half a tsp of salt in a cup of hot water and gargle for relief. Alternatively, you can also add a teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of black pepper powder to a glass of warm milk for at least three days to heal tonsillitis.
Also known as methi, fenugreek acts against the bacteria that cause tonsillitis and is an excellent remedy for the same. Also if you want instant relief from pain and inflammation, there is nothing better than fenugreek as it has anti-inflammatory properties.
Boil two tablespoons of fenugreek in three cups of water. Let it simmer for a minimum of 30 minutes. Strain the liquid and allow it to cool. Gargle with this water twice daily until it feels comfortable.
